Groundbreaking ceremony: Construction of Summum Lodge in Saas-Fee gets underway – 44 new serviced apartments in Valais
Saas-Fee/ Valais – Against the picturesque backdrop of the Valais Alps, a new chapter in alpine luxury has begun: the construction of the Summum Lodge, a serviced apartment resort with 44 managed apartments, was officially celebrated with a ground-breaking ceremony on 30 October. The Summum Lodge is expected to open in spring 2027 and combines modern comfort with traditional Alpine charm.
Koen Lockefeer and Jürg Studer, the initiators and visionaries behind the Summum Lodge, welcomed those present in Saas-Fee. It is very important to them to express their passion for the region and the community: ‘For us, the Summum Lodge is more than just a construction project – it is a labour of love. It is an expression of our passion for sustainable luxury and the Alpine way of life. Every detail reflects our commitment to making the Summum Lodge a benchmark for future-oriented tourism and offering significant added value to the Saas-Fee region,’ said Koen Lockefeer. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by prominent representatives of the region, including Franzisko Zurbriggen, Head of the Saas-Fee Building Authority, National Councillor Michael Graber, Grand Councillor Barbara Anthamatten and Orlando Steiner from Quant AG, the project developer of Summum Lodge. Other partners, supporters and neighbours from the community were also present to celebrate the symbolic start.

A visionary project
The Summum Lodge aims to set new standards. Modern architecture blends with traditional Walser architecture here. Inspired by the typical Valais barns (Walser mountain barns), the cosy chalet-style apartments invite you to linger. Only select, high-quality materials are used. Each apartment is designed to offer its residents the highest level of comfort and elegance.
The result is a retreat that will offer its guests unforgettable experiences amid the breathtaking mountain landscape of Saas-Fee. Environmental commitment is also a major concern for those responsible for the project. By using natural resources carefully, the resort aims to set a strong example for environmentally friendly tourism in the Alps.

Alpine luxury and modern design
The Summum Lodge in Saas-Fee stands for exclusive alpine luxury and combines modern design with traditional Walser architecture. As a modern serviced apartment resort, it will offer first-class accommodation in one of Switzerland’s most picturesque mountain regions in 2027. With a focus on sustainability and comfort, the Summum Lodge invites visitors to enjoy unforgettable experiences. In addition to luxurious amenities such as a wellness area and a diverse range of dining options, the ‘buy-to-use-let’ concept offers attractive investment opportunities. Summum Lodge is a unique project that combines luxury and simplicity, benefiting both guests and the local community of Saas-Fee.
