The future of the destination: between haystack and workation
The current challenges in the destinations cannot be solved with an “off-the-shelf” campaign or concept. Solutions must always be developed individually. However, this is only possible if all stakeholders involved are aware of their role and responsibility. This means that all service providers, the population and the municipality must work together to develop a sustainable strategy for future tourism. Quant has developed a destination model based on the latest scientific findings and many years of practical experience. At the center of the future-oriented destination model is the concept of destination governance. The model takes into account the most important challenges of the market and offers pragmatic approaches to overcome them.
Central levers of action
A destination can only be successful if it pursues a participatory development process with common goals and no vested interests.
#1 It’s about enabling and support, not marketing and sales
#2 It’s about collaboration and participation, not about vested interests
#3 It’s about governance, not controllability and hierarchy
Our approach – 3 steps to a solution
In co-creation with our customers, we develop individual solutions and holistic strategies. At the same time, we ensure that these are economically successful and socially acceptable. The aim is to generate economic opportunities, improve the customer experience and promote the process of participation in order to ensure stability in the destination. We have developed a specific and flexible model for this. Here are our three proven steps.
Analysis
Our in-depth analysis using scientific methods as well as interviews and discussions on site provides a holistic picture and a reliable basis for the orientation.
Concept
The sustainable destination strategy is developed in the conception phase. This takes place in a participatory process with the key stakeholders.
Implementation
Based on the strategy, we develop a practical and implementable action plan and ensure that the defined goals can be effectively achieved.
Simple, clear and future-oriented
We are always guided by facts, we do not evaluate but provide a basis for decision-making. In doing so, we abandon traditional ways of thinking and look for alternative approaches – always with the aim of providing real added value.
Comprehensive analysis
We start with a thorough analysis of your destination’s current situation. We collect and examine comprehensive data and information, conduct interviews and personal discussions with stakeholders in order to create a sound basis and overall picture for strategic development.
Identifying the key challenge
We determine the most pressing strategic challenge that needs to be addressed in the next 2-3 years based on the previous analysis. This is done through an in-depth consideration and evaluation of all relevant influencing factors.
Development of a vision
We are developing a new mission statement for the destination in a participatory process. This mission statement serves as the basis for all further steps in the destination’s development.
Definition of strategic directions
We derive specific strategic directions from the previous steps. These form the basis for the next phase of the concept.
Concept
We develop a suitable strategy variant that can respond to the identified and central challenge and strategic direction. This involves identifying risks and developing measures to minimize these risks. We discuss the strategy with the decision-makers and adapt it if necessary with the aim of jointly identifying and developing the best solution.
Creation of the strategy scorecard
We create the strategy scorecard to visualize and measure strategic goals. This tool enables you to track progress and review target achievement at a strategic level.
Implementation of action plan
The operational action plan defines the activities, responsibilities and deadlines for implementing the strategy on site.
Implementation support
On request, we provide on-site support for the implementation process. We work closely with the decision-makers and selected individuals throughout the entire process and ensure that know-how is transferred to the organization and that the defined objectives are achieved.
